Selling Tips

We have provided below some selling tips to assist you in preparing your property for sale, and maximising its sale price –

  • 1. When spending a dollar, you need to make that dollar back. If the house is in poor condition, improvements can increase the sales price. A thousand dollars spent to improve a home that is in good condition, often doesn’t add a thousand dollars to its sales price. If in doubt, speak to one of our agents and we can give you valuable advice.

  • 2. Give your home a thorough ‘Spring Clean’. Clean windows and screens, remove any smudges on walls, light switches & doorknobs, remove any dust and cobwebs and create a sense of freshness by using aromas such as flowers and in scents or even air-fresheners

  • 3. First impressions will count, so gardens are important. Remove any weeds, prune the gardens, trim any shrubs that may be hanging over pathways, tidy up any bits and pieces lying around, and even plant some vibrant coloured flowers to brighten the appearance of your home

  • 4. Declutter! Clutter will often give the impression that there’s not a lot of space. Get rid of everything you can live without or loan it out to family or friends. By doing this, it will create a sense of spaciousness

  • 5. Pay particular attention to the bathrooms and kitchen - these rooms attract attention when your home is on the market. Remember to clear benches and keep the sink clean and clear every day when the property is on the market.

  • 6. Bright lights and white walls…. dark houses can be rather gloomy so let the sun shine, pull back the curtains, open the blinds or turn on a few lights!

  • 7. Odd jobs, squeaks, rattles and drips can often make people feel as if there is a lot of work to be done, so this is the time to finish those odd jobs that you have been meaning to do! This will give the impression that the house has been well maintained and looked after by its owner
